I still don’t understand why the technology being used by Tesla in their cars (minimum 200+/- miles per charge) is not being pursued by the big three and the energy department? Volt = stupid. Just shows how deep in the pocket of the government owned GM things go. I have a full size truck I drive on occasion that with tuning changes, gets over 26 mpg. Chevy Volt??? Forget it, too many better alternatives available that have less impact on the environment and my $$$ bottom line. Only real reason to go electric to me is if there is no more gasoline.

I dunno how the UW-Police and Capitol Police relationship works. I read somewhere that they have memorandums of understanding with other departments, so I don’t know that the Uni really had to send them, so much as they had to be requested.

At the same time, there is no way they could be such a visible and sizable portion of the police presence without her approval. None. Both Madison and Dane County pulled their cops from the illegal seizure over concerns about safety and legality; UW cops stayed on board. They had more than enough cover to bolt when the sheriff of Dane County came out and blasted Walker and the DOA in a press conference with the DA.

According to the Wisconsin State Journal, the cops that took him down were from Two Rivers, one of the towns from around the state that sent cops and who didn’t pull them in the wake of the DOA scandal.

I don’t know anything else about them. You see a ton of these small town cops here. Some are friendly, some are not. The friendlier ones seemed to disappear during the lockout, and rumors were that they refused to show up for work while it was illegally held. Rumors abound here, however.

Thanks much! I came here to ask what is actually going on with the status of UW-Madison… The chancellor sent the campus police? And how are they behaving?

Which police took down the state rep who was tackled last night?

The MCM (Mainstream Corporate Media) appears to have now begun taking the WI protest story back to the DC Versailles pundits and reporters. Nice polite discussions, with the usual rightwing lies and then only occasionally an actual labor representative or pro-union politician. Grrrrr.

Do you remember when Scott Walker made the comments to FOX News you referenced (about other R’s suggesting he use agents provocateurs? Thnx. Post at Ian’s or I’ll try to remember to check back here.

Appreciate your comments. I’m from WI orginally, attended UW-Madison in the way back times, been out of state since the mid-80′s. Miss WI, Madison, Irish Fest, etc.

Myers didn’t make one offhand comment, and Jerry Coyne gave him every opportunity to revisit the matter. He made a relatively simple statement that I fail to see your difficulty in understanding: that he, PZ Myers, no matter what evidence or argument is marshalled against his position, no matter how convincing, repeatable, demonstrable or empirical the proof for God might be, would not alter his beliefs, and would in fact construct fabulist alternatives (brain injuries that cause no effect other than the manifestation of things he doesn’t like to believe) rather than admit even the possibility of his error.

That is faith. Subscribing to faith over reason is the cornerstone of religion.

Your analogy to a perpetual motion machine is flawed, unless your father, upon being presented with such a machine by a superior intelligence, would then throw up his hands, fall to his knees and scream that it was blasphemy against science.

In which case, your dad has put science on the pedestal of religion, and we’re right back where we started.
